Word Wrap Issues?

Anyone else having an issue with Word Wrap on build 2.7.0? I have 14 machines doing this.

Running 2.7.0 build 671 (Smack: 3.31, JRE Version: 1.70.0_76).

Windows 8.1 Pro

Replicate:

  1. Open Spark, login and start a chat.
  2. Type normal text (past the window width) back and forth with chat partner.
  3. Either of you now posts a long URL (ex: http://www.howtogeek.com/216386/how-to-sideload-android-apps-onto-your-amazon-fi re-tv-and-fire-tv-stick/ )
  4. Word Wrap function is now broken (and aligned to the end of the line length = to the line from Step 3. Type some more normal text (past the window width) with chat partner.

This also seems to happen if you simply copy and paste text longer than the window width into the message as well on Step 3.

Yes. I’ve been noticing this for years, but some how didn’t file this yet. Anyway, done this now:

But Spark has no active developers right now, so no clue when this will be fixed.

If you disable short history, you can workaround by closing and opening a chat window again. Or just wait till that link or other “no gap” text will go beyond the 10 messages of the short history.

Now long lines with no space are moved to the next line and do not break word wrapping. Vertical scrollbar is no more, yay!

Will be included in 2.7.8 release. Ones who need it sooner - http://www.igniterealtime.org/downloads/nightly_spark.jsp (starting with 815 build).

wroot, i think I found a bug. It looks like no new messages are showing up in spark on clean installs or no chat history. I’m able to reproduce this by deleting %appdata%\spark and restarting Spark. Then send a test message. a new message window opens, but is empty. Can you confirm?

Yes, i can reproduce this. Will ping Guus on this.

Looks like that was introduced by Wolf in the recent Roar updates [SPARK-1736] NPE in Roar plugin prevents messages to show up on fresh profiles - IgniteRealtime JIRA and is not related to Guus changes. But Guus has fixed this also. Build 816.

I am having this issue as well, latest version of both Openfire and Spark.

Has anyone found a fix?

This will be fixed in 2.8.0, which is scheduled for June 24 currently (can be moved as there was a major Smack update and some things are broken now). If you don’t want to wait, you can grab the 816 build. It has the fix, but doesn’t have the major Smack update). Ignite Realtime: Spark Nightly Builds
