HTTP ERROR: 500 INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR RequestURI=/setup/setup-profile-settings.jsp in openfire 3.6.4

I was using Openfire 3.6.4 on UBUNTU 9.4. I am now getting an error when I setup Openfire… I am able to get to the initial setup and get to the point that it asks for the Profile Settings, I choose default and it gives me the following error.

I have the exact same error:

Right after selecting the “default” on the Profile Settings page I get the error above.

Please help.

I’ve installed openfire 3.6.4 on Ubunut 9.04 running:

apache2 version 2.2.11-2ubuntu2

MySQL version 5.0.75

sun-java6 version 6-16-0ubuntu1.9.04

(These are the latest stable versions)

Has anyone found a working solution for this yet?

I managed to solve this problem with the explaination that I posted here:

I’ve gotten it work too, but not sure what did it.

I also had to redo the setup a few times the way mhuggins did on the post he links to.

I also had to reboot the machine half way through the setup process (I think).

After rebooting, if I went straight to setup it would bomb out again, so instead I waited a few minutes (not sure if this is what helped).

Then it eventually started working.
