General question about LDAP integration

I have Openfire installed and setup to work with my 2003 AD environment, and it seems to work very well. I have my IT staff testing it before deciding whether or not to deploy it to the rest of my organization.
One thing is slightly worrying. So far, when sending requests to add contacts and when looking up contacts, users are showing up in the roster with their sAMaccount names (their AD login account). Their profile shows their display and nickname correctly, but in the contact popup, it shows their username and nickname as <domainid>. This could be the make or break unfortunately, as really no one outside of IT knows anyone by their domain ID's.
I've been digging through the setup for several hours now without any success. Is this something simple I'm missing here?
When you set up LDAP, did you check the 'user mapping' section - I think it's the second step. It allows you to map LDAP attributes to particular fields in Openfire. I have my Openfire connected to AD, and it pretty much worked out of the box.
Maybe you could post a screenshot of a user info page just so we can see?
Well, unfortunately, following the instructions in the article linked in the last post caused my openfire server to fail to restart. Given that the article was 3 years old, it might be that the information it contained simply didn't apply to the current version.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
