Kraken replacement: Spectrum integration to Openfire

Hi

I just wanted to let you know, that there is active development of a Kraken replacement via a plugin to Openfire for http://Spectrum.im. Spectrum implements a protoXEP for remote rosters to let OF server integrate rosters from other chat networks. Spectrum is based on the Pidgin base lib, so support for protocoll changes by the MSNs of the world may get easier.

The developer tries to maintain the Spark functionalities and the plugin will behave (at least attempt) as if it is Kraken. Daniel (the Kraken guru) is involved as well as the Spectrum developers.

Volunteers to work with us are highly welcome. We are currently looking for C++ people to push Spectrum a bit. Java guys are also welcome. Our code is in the OF SVN.

Anyone interested?

Walter

I’ve linked to the “for further information” link above from the spectrum site.

Thanks Daniel. I just hope that Spectrum proved to be stable part. We will try to move out production environment to it in the next 4 weeks. Kraken supports now roughly 2000 users. Let’s see…
